This cake gets its name from the way its ingredients are measured. Originally, the cake was made from one-pound sugar, one pound butter, one pound eggs and one-pound flour hence is the name, traditionally baked in either a loaf pan or a Bundt mold 

In the USA, the butter is substituted with sour cream to moisten the cake and give it a tangy flavor. 

In France, the bound cake is called “quarte-quarts,” or “four quarters,” a quarter referring to a pound. 

Many variations of the pound cake exist now across various countries and regions. To create Café de la Paix’s distinct style we introduced saffron, lavender, lemon, orange, and cinnamon flavors. 

The cake is dense since it does not rise much. Our version of pound cakes is topped with a flavored glaze based on the flavor of the cake.
